Installing Desktop Web Proxy on Multiple Workstations

Use the silent option to install Desktop Web Proxy (DWP) on multiple workstations without using an installation interface. The procedure assumes you are familiar with MSI package installations. This method uses the silent, mass rollout option.

Additionally, you can use two different methods to install DWP with an authentication code. For more information, scroll to the bottom of this page.

To install DWP on multiple workstations:

  • On the command window, append one of the following /quiet commands to the installation command:
    • DWPSetup.msi /quiet
    • DWPSetup_NoUninstall.msi /quiet

      • Note the space before /quiet.

  • To use a Group Authentication Code during installation, use the following command-line options:
    msiexec -I dwpsetup.msi /q AUTHCODE=XXXXXX
  • To specify restart options after installation, use these command-line options:
    • /norestart - Does not restart the computer after the installation.
    • /promptrestart - Prompts the user for a restart if necessary.
    • /forcerestart - Always restart the computer after installation.

      • The settings are automatically applied to the browsers.

      Settings are not automatically applied to the browsers in either of these cases:

    • The Activate DWP on Install option on the Management Portal is set. If this option is not set, you can configure the browsers manually by right-clicking the DWP icon in the system tray and selecting Apply Proxy Setting.
    • The Apply portal settings to the DWP clients option is turned off at both the account and group levels. If the option is on at either the account or group level, the settings are applied.

      • For a complete list of command-line options, use /help at the command window.

Installation with Authentication Code

Use the following method to install DWP with authentication mode.

To use the msiexec command:

  • Use msiexec command with Authentication code as parameter, for example:
    msiexec /i Dwp5_0_027.msi AUTHCODE=myAuthCode
