Configuring Desktop Web Proxy to Use PAC Files

Before continuing with this section, ensure that the proxy auto configuration (PAC) file exists and is defined in Web Security Service. Then follow the steps in this section to reference the PAC file in Desktop Web Proxy (DWP). For more information, see Configuring Proxy Automatic Configuration Files.

To configure DWP to use a PAC file:

• Right-click the DWP tray icon and select System Configurations.
  The System Configurations window provides two fields for automatic proxy configuration:

• Select the Enable Automatic Configuration checkbox.
• In the Automatic Configuration Script Address field, enter the URL of the PAC file's location.
  The URL address is the one you specified for the PAC file - a web server address, or a local or network drive. See Specifying PAC Filss on Web Security Service in Configuring Proxy Automatic Configuration Files.
• Click the OK button.
• Use one of the following methods to restart DWP:
  • Right-click the DWP icon on the system tray and select Re-start DWP.
  • Select Administrative Tools > Services console to restart DWP Local Proxy Service.

After the DWP has restarted, DWP configures the browsers to start using the PAC file.
