Error Message Example: 550 5.7.1
Error Message Explanation: This message indicates that the sender has sent email to 15 or more email addresses that produced a bounceback message stating the recipient does not exist. This looks like spamming to receiving mail servers and when it occurs too frequently it will cause the Windstream mail server to get blacklisted.
Resolution: When this occurs a 24 hour block is placed on the senders email account. This is to allow the sender time to audit their mailing list and remove all invalid email addresses. These invalid email addresses would have generated an error message as shown below:

Error Message Explanation: These messages typically indicate that your mail servers IP address has been blacklisted due to spam traffic originating from the IP address. This could indicate that your email account, domain, mail server or a device on the same network as the IP address is compromised.
Resolution: Click on the URL provided in the message and follow the instructions to get your IP address removed from the blacklist.
Error Message Example: The server response was: 4.0.0: Your IP address has been restricted due to heavy usage. Enable SMTP authentication in your email client to send mail.
Error Message Explanation: This message indicates that our server does not detect SMTP Authentication as being enabled on your connection to Windstream. When SMTP Authentication is not enabled our server will only allow a small amount of outgoing messages to go out before restrictions are enforced. This restriction is to prevent using our mail servers as an unauthenticated relay which is commonly seen as spamming.
Resolution: If you are using a 3rd party email client (Examples include: Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Android mobile device, Apple mobile device, etc...) please checkout our SMTP Authentication settings guide here:
Error Message Example: Your IP address has been restricted due to heavy usage.Enable SMTP authentication in your email client to send mail.
